If you have undergone a forehead flap you will usually have at least two ‘turban-like’ head dressings, usually with one or more drains protruding from underneath. These dressings are primarily designed to apply pressure to the wound to avoid the formation of a haematoma (clot), and are removed after 24-48 hours. If you find the dressings a little tight, you can remove the outer dressing after 24 hours.
